New, newer, newest Nouvelle

Whatever’s got into Pablo Nouvelle? After being strangely quiet for a while, he is suddenly busy like never before. Having released a mini album of solo piano pieces only a few months ago (it received high praise in the London-based music business magazine Music Week), and produced an album with Bernese rapper Tommy Vercetti, here already is his next shot. It is a “mixtape album”, entitled “Atlas Internet Café” and released via Amsterdam/New York/London-based Armada Music.

Ever since he released his sampledelic debut album as a free download in 2013, Pablo Nouvelle has created a stir wherever he appeared, especially in the UK. Enjoying the support of the likes of BBC6 Music, xfm and the Guardian, his blend of pounding beats, atmospheric sounds and soulful vocals (sampled or live), he quickly built up a strong live reputation, too. “Atlas Internet Café” is different to what’s gone before. Much more sparsely arranged, Nouvelle’s music has become quieter, moving into Brian Eno-esque ambient territory, without, however, losing its undertow of quietly dynamic rhythm.

“It’s truly a special one to me,” says Nouvelle of the record. “Because it’s very much… me. Almost no featurings on it except the lovely appearance of Lovelle and adotskitz . The aim was to dig deep, find the Nouvelle root and focus on an eclectic, multilayered and lush production that stands for it’s own. I want this to be the soundtrack for your daydreams, dinners and love affairs.”
