Swiss Music Export celebrating the 42nd edition of the Paléo Festival 18 – 23 July 2017, Nyon, Switzerland

The Paléo Festival is quite definitely our favourite festival of all, and not just because it takes place just down the road from our offices in Nyon! Blessed with a gorgeous setting not too far away from the North banks of Lake Geneva, the Paléo has long since established its reputation as one of the most diverse, colourful and thus inspirational festivals around. As ever, we at Swiss Music Export (SME) and Fondation Romande pour la Chanson et les Musiques Actuelles (FCMA) will be doing our best to spread the word about the unique Paléo vibe and, of course, all the Swiss artists set to appear at the festival.

Founded as a folk festival in 1976, the Paléo has become a six-day banquet of musical surprises. The organisers pride themselves in not just putting together an ace programme of music. They also strive to serve up a feast for the eyes, delighting in the creation of spectacular and surreal architectural spaces dotted around the whole festival site. The resulting atmosphere is special indeed, regularly driving performers to new levels of intensity and abandon. Many acts regard their Paléo performances as amongst their most enjoyable. The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Renaud, Manu Chao, Pixies and Arcade Fire are this year’s main international attractions. Amongst the Swiss acts performing are Fai Baba, L’Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamps XXL (now extended to 14 members!), and Hyperculte.

SME / FCMA Showcases at Cosmo: 18 – 22 July 2017, 16:00

Starting from Tuesday 18 July, SME in partnership with FCMA will be showcasing one band each day for the rest of the duration of the Paléo. These events will take place at the Cosmo in Nyon and start at 16:00. All performances are followed by an apéro – an ideal opportunity to start the evening in style and to exchange ideas as well as contact details with fellow professionals from all over Europe.

All accredited business professionals and media representatives are cordially invited to attend these showcases. For more information please contact:

This is the programme of SME/FCMA Showcases at the Cosmo:

Tuesday, 18 July: Alice Roosevelt

This local Nyon outfit combines powerful grooves with a hint of dream pop and eighties-style Sisters of Mercy. Alice Roosevelt will play at the festival proper on the same day.

Wednesday, 19 July: Sandor

Sandor is a female singer/songwriter from Lausanne whose synth-pop is melodically rooted in the French chanson tradition. Sandor will play at the festival on Sunday,
23 July.

Thursday, 20 July: KT Gorique

A rapper from Sion whose strong delivery is underpinned by imaginative arrangements and sometimes even a touch of classical chamber music. KT Gorique will play at the festival on Sunday, 23 July.

Friday, 21 July: Mark Kelly

Lion-maned Mark Kelly is a writer of catchy pop-folk songs with a voice soaked in soul and an irresistibly extravert stage presence. Mark plays at the festival on the same day.

Saturday, 22 July: Régis

The way Régis talk-sings his way through a dark brew of percussion, bass and synth is somehow reminiscent of Leonard Cohen at the same time as Joy Division. Régis plays at the festival on the same day.

The other Swiss acts appearing at this year’s Paléo are: Fai Baba, L’Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamps XXL, Jérémie Kisling, Hyperculte, Isolated Lines Presents “Schism”, Los Orioles, Professor Wouassa, Beauchamp, Len Sander, The Staches and Marabout.
