Switzerland is the lead country partner of the Great Escape 2017! 18 – 20 May 2017, Brighton, UK

The Great Escape in Brighton is without a doubt one of the most popular and important independent festivals in Europe. Brighton, the place to be in May 2017, is full of atmospheric bars, wonderfully weird shops, a legendary beach with a long pop culture tradition, and a vibrant music scene.

Welcome to a fantastic opportunity! Having long been die-hard fans of the Great Escape Festival in Brighton, Switzerland, and with it Swiss Music Export, has been selected as the featured country of the 2017 edition. For several years, SME has sponsored a massively popular showcase featuring three Swiss acts at the Komedia Studio Bar. This time round, however, many more of our artists will be given the chance to present their music to an international audience of music business professionals as well as highly knowledgeable mostly local music fans. As far back as 2009, Sophie Hunger was the first Swiss artist to profit from an appearance at The Great Escape. Having played an impressive set at the The Old Market, she was there and then signed up to play at that year’s Glastonbury Festival. Since then, bands as diverse as OY, Klaus Johann Grobe, Peter Kernel, BOY and Pablo Nouvelle have all played memorable sets at the Swiss Music Export showcase/business mixer.

Besides the concerts, Swiss Music Export will also set up some networking opportunities at the Great Escape 2017. Details about SME activities will soon be online.
