Bastian Baker debut album released in Germany and Austria

At last, Bastian Baker’s debut album “Tomorrow May not be Better” is officially available in Germany and Austrian. It was released on 23 May on Roughtrade.

Lausanne-born Bastian Baker – who is still only 23 years old – was something of a shooting star when he first appeared on the Swiss pop firmament in 2011. His very first single, the clearly programmatic “Lucky”, was a hit in Switzerland. In April of that year, he played his first festival, the Caprices Festival in Crans-Montana. Containing “songs you could play with your friends on a summer’s evening” (Bastian’s description), the debut album “Tomorrow May Not Be Better” was released in Switzerland the following September. It reached the top 3 in the Swiss charts where it stayed for an incredible 88 weeks and earned Bastian a platinum award.

A few months later, “Tomorrow May not be Better” was released in France where it also charted. Also in France, Bastian hit the top 20 with a non-album single release of his version of the Leonard Cohen song “Hallelujah”. Last year, Bastian Baker released a second album entitled “Too Old to Die Young”. It was recorded in the UK with Ken Stringfellow (The Posies, REM, Big Star and others) and mixed in New York by Mark Plati (David Bowie, The Cure).

Bastian Baker is at present supporting the belated release of his debut album in the rest of German-speaking Europe by appearing as a special guest on a tour of Germany with German band Kids of Adelaide. In between, on 27 May, he popped down to Monte Carlo to play at the World Music Award show.
