Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp charm France

The Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp left a deep impression with their riotously enjoyable appearance at the „Inouis du Printemps de Bourges“ festival. In April, the Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp celebrated the release of their third album “Rotorotor”, with which they are part of May’s Selection of French Radio FIP. Clearly, the group are creating waves wherever they appear. During their stop-over in Bourges, they were interviewed by Radio France Inter.

Libération, the influential daily newspaper co-founded by Jean-Paul Sartre, devoted a highly perceptive feature to the band which pointed out the double-jointed allusions of their name to the Dadaist tradition on the one hand, and a certain style of East African band names, on the other.

Meanwhile, here’s what one of the largest-circulation Swiss daily newspapers, the Nordwestschweiz, had to say about “Rotorotor”:

“Great name, great album! The Geneva-based sextet decamped to Bristol in order to record this, their third album, with producer John Parish (best known for his work with P.J. Harvey). Amongst their instruments are violin, toy flute, marimba, trombone, xalam, and drums. Influences range from punk to Jamaica via Nigeria and New Orleans. And with her laconic, young-girlish vocals Liz Moscarola adds the golden thread that binds together this joyfully anarchic melee of styles.”
