Anna Aaron releases 2nd album “NEURO”

Anna Aaron’s second album “NEURO” will be released by Two Gentlemen (distribution: Irascible) on 28 February.
Even the title of her very first EP, “I’ll Dry Your Tears Little Murderer”, marked pianist Anna Aaron out as a talent with a singular vision in today’s overcrowded pool of singing songwriters. She followed this up two years later with the album “Dogs in Spirit”, a strikingly idiosyncratic collection of electronically tinged songs that didn’t shy away from experiments with pure noise, jarringly loud guitars, accordions as well as satisfyingly old-fashioned Hammonds and pianos. At the same time, she isn’t averse to the odd, sweet melodic turn or catchy chorus. Anna Aaron spent several childhood years in England and in various cities in Asia. Undoubtedly, the music she heard then filtered into her own muse, perhaps helping to explain some of the unusual vocal harmonies and melodies that permeate her arrangements.

It is a reflection of Anna Aaron’s growing stature as an artist that she was able to secure the services of producer David Kosten for the recording of “NEURO”. London-based Kosten has produced albums by Bat for Lashes, Everything Everything, Gabrielle Aplin and many others. His own recording project Faultline has involved guests like Chris Martin, Michael Stipe and Flaming Lips. Amongst the musicians helping to record “NEURO” are the Cure’s drummer Jason Cooper and the multi-instrumentalist Ben Christophers who himself has released five critically acclaimed solo albums. He is also a member of the Bat for Lashes band.

To tie in with the release of “NEURO”, Anna Aaron is undertaking a 20-date tour of France, Germany and Switzerland, starting on 6 March in Fribourg, and ending with an appearance at the Maifeld Derby Festival in Mannheim on 31 May.
