The bianca Story with crowdfunding experiment

The bianca Story, the multi-facetted art rock collective from Basel, are trying out a new method of funding and releasing their next album. Using the wemakeit.ch crowdfunding platform as a starting point, they hope to raise the Euro 90’000 they need according to their budget – published in detail on the wemakeit-website – to record their third album, “Bist Du Kumpel?”. Factored in with the required amount are all recording costs as well as the record company’s accounting, marketing and sundry other costs.

If the target amount is reached, the band have pledged to release the completed album to download for free to anyone who wishes to do so. The band’s record label – Tim Renner’s Berlin-based Motor Music – are fully behind the move. “With this move, the Bianca Story are leaving behind the last vestiges of the old value system.” says Renner: “It is an exciting experiment, and that’s why we support it.” “Together with friends, fans and other supporters,” explains band leader Elia Rediger, “we want to liberate music from economic and financial shackles in order to make it free for everyone.” At the time of writing, The bianca Story have raised about a third of the necessary amount, with the campaign scheduled to run another month.

Starting on 27 November in Cologne, the bianca Story will embark on a six-date tour of Germany. See the dates.
