Fiona Daniel both albums „Drowning“ and „Backyard“ available in Germany
In time for the singer/songwriter’s performance (with band) at the Reeperbahn Festival 2013, both her albums so far released in Switzerland will become available in Germany thanks to a new deal between Daniel’s Swiss label kuenschtli.ch with distributors Broken Silence.
26-year old Fiona Daniel is the grand-daughter of Serge and Doris Stauffer, important figures both in Zurich’s Sixties avant-garde art scene. Their courage to be different lives on in Fiona whose singular voice, despite also being influenced by the classic canon of singers/songwriters, is a close relative in spirit to Joanna Newsom. Autoharp, xylophone and typewriter are just as much part of her vocabulary as electronica and piano. It all adds up to a density of texture which, paradoxically, feels light as a feather.
