Duck Duck Grey Duck go double wild
Hey, hey, it’s the Duckees! A new album by Geneva-based madcaps Duck Duck Grey Duck, “Traffic Jam”, was released on 2 February. The band are celebrating the event with a tour of Switzerland as well as two live appearances on French radio, FIP Radio Concert, Paris (19 February) and Radio France Inter (22 February).
The anarchically coiffed trio from Geneva describe their sound as „magical doo-wop, Lake Geneva soul-surf-garage, two beat grooves an ancestral rhythms“. Founded in 2013 by Robin Girod of Mama Rosin-fame (vocals and guitars), Neslon (sic) Schaer (Erika Stucky, Trionyx, drums) and Pierre-Henri Beyrière (bass), Duck Duck Grey Duck play a wildly unpredictable hot-pot of garage rock, twanging surf guitars, psychedelic grunge and sixties yeh-yeh.
Their new album follows a typically idiosyncratic concept. Divided up in four vinyl sides (there’s a CD version, too), each side follows a different drolly named musical theme: Back Beat, Pop & Fast, French Collision, and Acid & Sweat. There are 25 songs in all!
“Traffic Jam” is released in Switzerland by A Tree in a Field Records, by Casbah Records in France. Distribution is via Broken Silence in Germany and L’Autre Distribution in France, plus other companies in different territories.
