Swiss Music Export at the Waves Central Europe Festival in Vienna and Bratislava 30 September – 4 October 2015
Now in its fifth year, with its two-pronged concept, the Waves Central Europe Festival in Vienna and Bratislava holds a unique position in the European festival calendar. With one leg of the festival taking place in Austria, the other in Slovakia, Waves is an ideal platform for musicians and business professionals from East and West to exchange ideas and strike up new friendships.
Having early on spotted the huge potential of this event, Swiss Music Export in partnership with Fondation Suisa and the Swiss Embassy in Austria is once again hosting a Business Mixer at Waves in Vienna.
Swiss Business Mixer @ Xpedit Lager, Vienna
Wiesingerstrasse 6, Vienna
Thursday, 1 October 2015, 17:45 – 18:45
The raucous Chikitas from Geneva will be playing a showcase set. Of course, there will be free drinks, too. Anyone is welcome to attend this Swiss Business Mixer.
Swiss professionals booking their ticket via Swiss Music Export will be able to profit from a special discount for the Waves Central Europe Pro Pass: special price applicable for Swiss Delegates is € 75,- instead of € 109,-. Please note: This offer is valid before 30 September 2015. For information please contact mixer@swiss-music-export.
Supported by Swiss Music Export, several Swiss acts will be appearing live in Vienna, Bratislava or both during the normal Waves program.
The Chikitas
Thursday, 1 October, 17:45 – 18:45; Xpedit Lager, Vienna
Thursday, 1 October, 21:45 – 22:30; Badeschiff, Vienna
Friday, 2 October, 01:00 – 01:40; Fuga; Bratislava
The wild and wonderful Chikitas are a guitar/drums/vocals duo from Geneva consisting of Lynn Maring and Saskia Fuertes. Their energy – live as well as on record, as demonstrated on their second album “Distoris Clitortion” – is astonishing. And they have an ear for a catchy chorus, too. La La La La!
James Gruntz
Thursday, 1 October, 22:00 – 22:45; Ost Club, Vienna (new venue)
In the course of four fine and increasingly self-confident albums, James Gruntz, with a voice like a warm summer breeze, has matured into a first class singer/songwriter with countless memorable, jazz-tinged melodies. Earlier this year, James picked up two Swiss Music Awards in the categories „Best Breaking Act“ and „Artist Award“.
Ingrid Lukas
Friday, 2 October, 00:00 -01:00; MDPOH, Bratislava
Born and raised in Estonia but based in Zurich since 1994, Ingrid Lukas has developed a highly original style with elements from Estonian folk music, jazz, and electronica. Having collaborated with Bugge Wesseltoft and Nik Bärtsch, her painterly approach to music and experiment is not a million miles away from artists like Björk or Kate Bush. Her band includes electronics as well as cello and bass.
Pablo Nouvelle
Thursday, 1 October 21:30 – 22:15; Heuer, Vienna
Friday, 2 October 21:00 – 22:00; Nu Spirit Club – Main Room, Bratislava
Inspired by the classic soul voices as well as the likes of Brian Eno, XX and Bonobo, Pablo Nouvelle combines sweet melodies with atmospheric electronica as well as – sometimes – pounding drums. Pablo Nouvelle will be introducing the songs from his soon-to-be-released second album.
Presented by Swiss Music Export, Fondation Suisa and Swiss Embassy in Austria.
