Annakin “Stand Your Ground” Album Release

Ex-Swandive singer Annakin will be releasing the fourth album under her own steam on 17 January.

Annakin recorded her new album “Stand Your Ground” at Trevor Horn’s Sarm West studio complex in Notting Hill, London. It was produced by Dimitri Tikovoi whose credits include Sophie Ellis Bextor, Charli XCX, Mikky Ekko, the Horrors as well as the legendary John Cale. With Dimitri, Annakin has found a collaborator who is instinctively attuned to the subtle dynamics between lyrics that tend to explore the darker side of the human psyche and a voice that glides over the melodies with the ease of a lark. Instrumentally, “Stand Your Ground” offers a finely spun blend of organic instruments and electronica. The hook-up with Dimitri Tikovoi happened as a result of Annakin contacting 140db Management in London after discovering that the Frenchman had been involved in a good number of her favourite records.

Supporting the release with a tour of Switzerland, Annakin will also be celebrating her new as well as old work with a special performance on 28 January at Kaufleuten in Zurich. For one night only, she will be joined by the 17-member Zürcher Kammerorchester and the hang-player Manu Delago to perform her songs in an orchestral context. The arrangements were written for Annakin by Fiona Brice whose recent work includes collaborations with Placebo (she is their regular violin player), Anna Calvi and John Grant. Fiona will also be taking part in this performance.
