Soft Loft throwing the dice
Fresh from the PIAS-presses comes “Throw the Dice”, the third album (also counting the mini-lp “Modern Roses”) in as many years from Soft Loft. Having supported AnnenMayKantereit on their tour of Germany in summer, Soft Loft celebrate the release of their own new album with an extensive autumn tour of UK, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Czechia and Austria. Having made their European breakthrough in the wake of their debut album “The Party and the Mess”, the self-produced “Throw the Dice” oozes self-confidence. With Stamm’s instantly recognisable vocals upfront, the songs generate the sort of warm glow that goes well with the sunset at a festival, a garden party in spring or even a quiet mid-winter evening on the sofa at home. A concept album of sorts, the songs revolve around the notion of how ourlives and attitudes change when childhood turns into adulthood. The theme is reflected by the sleeve design which was shot around a carousel and a dinosaur in a park. “The carousel alsobecame a beautiful metaphor for the album because it’s constantly moving, just like life around us”, explains Stamm in an interview with the Australian internet platform 10. “Everything keeps turning, whether we’re ready for it or not”.
