Rose-picking with Marie Jay

Lausanne-based singer/songwriter Marie Jay continues on her strictly upwardly-mobile career curve with a new five-track EP, “le rose c’est has been”. It is available now from 3ème Bureau/Wagram Music.

An alumna of both the BIMM institute in London and La Gustav music school in Fribourg, 24-year-old Marie Jay first came to the public’s positive attention with her 2024 mini-LP “Trottinette”. Newly signed to 3ème Bureau, one of the sublabels of Parisian independent music organisation Wagram Music, “le rose c’est has been” offers a sharp and brilliantly catchy slice of electro-pop-chanson, Marie Jay-style. The witty EP title gives a good indication of her way with words. Combining humour with a flair for everyday stories that lay bare all sorts of human frailties and contradictions, her ever so slightly laconic vocal delivery adds plenty of oomph precisely because it is so unhurried.
