Bandit Voyage celebrating fathers
The latest instalment of Bandit Voyage’s ongoing “Core” series is out now via Cheptel Records. Entitled “Daddy Core”, the four-track EP is a celebration of the life of singer Anissa Cadelli’s father who sadly passed away recently.
Bandit Voyage are singer, lyricist and guitarist Anissa Cadelli and multi-instrumentalist Robin Girod, the driving force of various Genevan outfits specialising in eccentric musical entertainment which at one time included the rather wonderful Mama Rosin. He is also the founder of Cheptel Records, home of brilliant fellow Genevans like Magic & Naked, Milla Pluton and Barrio Colette. On “Daddy Core”, Bandit Voyage stay true to their credo, a mixture of more or less lo-fi funky grooves, minimalist guitar riffs and laconic post-yé-yé pop. Incredibly, they even manage to squeeze their version of the Eagles’ “Hotel California” into this style – a labour of love simply because it was one of Daddy Cadelli’s absolutely favourite tunes.
