A bridge between East and West, the conference/festival Waves Vienna is always a popular destination for artists and business professionals from Switzerland. This year, SME is proud to present five acts at Waves.
Fabulously extravert, Valentino Vivace in full flight is a truly crazy sight to behold. Approaching his raucously nostalgic brand of eighties Italo-disco from a totally contemporary perspective, he is a massive bundle of mullet-haired fun.
The 2020 “The Voice of Germany” winner has worked long and hard at finding a genuinely individual musical voice to arrive at a riveting blend of electroclash, Cramps, Lana del Ray and Elton John – all tied together by that voice: dark, smoky and oh so mysterious.
Possessed by oodles of charisma, the Lausanne-based rapper is amongst the crème de la crème of the burgeoning French-Swiss hip hop scene. Her lyrics and delivery are direct, hard-hitting and – after countless gigs – honed to perfection.
Carlo Rainolter and Andrin Uetz, aka Karl Kave & Durian, provide electronica-chansons leavened with sonorous bass lines, drolly laconic „Sprechgesang“ and lyrics dealing with issues like „Gurkensalat“ („aus dem Patriarchat, macht Gurkensalat“), „La Vida Loca“, collapse and darkness.
