FlexFab, now with Extra Flexibility!
Fresh from his own imprint NSK/FlexFab comes producer/singer FlexFab’s latest full-length album. Entitled “Pablo Phone Home”, it contains a stunningly eclectic collection of tracks which – simply put – no one else could have conceived of.
Starting off in the 00s as a sampledelic beatmaker, Neuchâtel-born and -bred Pablo Fernandez soon established a reputation – national at first, but swiftly international – as a fearless downtempo/trap/hip-hop experimenter. Refusing to stick to boxes and being driven by an unstoppable sense of curiosity, he regarded any new style of music he discovered as a challenge to find ways to integrate it in his own. Recognition followed quickly. The Arabic-flavoured single “Zoo” went around the world; he won the “Best Emerging Talent” award at Swiss Live Talents and the overall “Best Track” at the m4music Demo Tape Clinic.
Flex Fab’s last two albums both grew out of a tour of East Africa and a concert in the coastal town of Kilifi where he met artist Ziller Bas – the beginning of the MUGOGO! project. He has performed at clubs and festivals from Tokyo to Shanghai, from Belgrade to around Dublin, and from Berlin to Bogota. The wittily titled new album gathers all the musical impressions collected during these excursions and blends them into one big, beautiful and witty FlexFab “sound” that sparkles with innovation and never feels forced in any way.
