Switzerland Meets Eurosonic

Cheers to a new year – and we all know, what that means: it’s time for another Eurosonic! Which for most of us in the European music industry marks the proper start of a new year. With 253 acts from all over the continent – and the UK – scheduled to appear live at this year’s edition, Eurosonic provides us all with a welcome opportunity to dance away all those excess kilos acquired since the same event twelve months ago. All this, and the company of 4000+ fellow business professionals to discuss trends, campaigns and concepts in a massive selection of workshops, panels and presentations – hey, what’s not to like!

It goes without saying that Swiss Music Export will once again be joining the Eurosonic party. And we’ll be bringing along a fine sample of the best new music Switzerland has to offer. Some of the acts were chosen by the public broadcasting stations of the French, Italian and German parts of the country. Here’s the programme:

NNAVY | Marathonzaal | Wednesday, 15 Jan 2025 | 22:40 – 23:20 | presented by Couleur 3
Blessed with an effortlessly flexible soul voice and an un-showy but deeply emotional singing style, the Burundi-born NNAVY quotes Jacob Collier, Yebba, Daniel Caesar and Yussuf Dayes as influences.

Ele A | Kelder | Wednesday, 15 Jan 2025 | 23:20 – 00:00 | presented by Rete 3
Signed to Universal Italia, rapper Ele A professes to be creatively fuelled by Rick Rubin’s book “The Creative Act: a Way of Being”. Preferring her beats to be slow and atmospheric, Ele A shows that Italian might well be the most beautiful rapping language there is.

Sami Galbi | Minerva Praediniussingel | Thursday, 16 Jan 2025 | 22:20 – 23:00
Setting out to explore the music of his childhood in Morocco, multi-instrumentalist and singer Sami Galbi has arrived at an intoxicating blend of contemporary raï and chaabi styles.

Sirens Of Lesbos | Machinefabriek | Friday, 17 Jan 2025 | 21:20 – 22:00
The Bernese collective fronted by the Serag sisters, Jasmina and Nabyla, have combined their impossibly wide-ranging palette of influences to create a joyful melange of Nu Soul, Fleetwood Mac, Lee Perry, Disco and – as featured on their latest single, “Call Me Back” – African-style gospel.

Soft Loft | Huize Maas FRONT | Friday, 17 Jan 2025 | 21:20 – 22:00 | presented by SRF 3
and: Plato Record Store | Friday, 17 Jan 2025 | 15:20 – 15:40
The five-piece was formed to perform the irresistibly catchy and fleetfooted indie songs of 25-year-old singer/songwriter Jorina Stamm. Thanks to a diary packed with live dates, the band has gone from strength since the release of their debut album in spring 2024.

Paula Dalla Corte | Werkman College | Friday, 17 Jan 2025 | 22:10 – 22:50
Mightily voiced Paula Dalla Corte used the money from her Voice of Germany win to gain invaluable song-writing and studio experience in Los Angeles.  Now residing in Berlin, she has developed a riveting blend of styles, ranging from electroclash to Cramps, Lana del Ray and, yes, Elton John.

Valentino Vivace | Simplon UP | Friday, 17 Jan 2025 | 22:10 – 22:50
The proud possessor of a surreally tailored and coloured mullet, Valentino Vivace serves up a joyously nostalgic and yet totally contemporary new version of Italo-disco. His new album, the second, will be released right in time for Eurosonic. It’s called “Discoteca Vivace”.

Benjamin Amaru | Werkman College | Friday, 17 Jan 2025 | 23:30 – 00:10

Blessed with a warm and expressive voice, he combines dreamy, electronica- and guitar-based backing tracks with a knack for super- catchy melodies served up in a satisfyingly varied palette of styles.
