Florencia Yunis Exploring Versions of Love
Out now via FarMore Records, home of Loco Escrito, is Florencia Yunis’s debut EP, “versiones de amor”. The five tracks don’t only document five very different aspects of life and love, they also document the 22-year old’s impressive versatility as a singer and songwriter. Drawing on her family’s Argentinian roots, her chosen style is a summery and classy melange of pop, reggaeton and r’n’b with considerable hit potential.
Born in Munich, Florencia spent the first seven years of her life in Buenos Aires before the family moved to Eastern Switzerland where her dad, the tennis professional Juan Carlos Yunis, found employment as a tennis coach. Florencia’s mother, meanwhile, a singer in various bands and musicals, enthusiastically nurtured her daughter’s early interest in music. Inspired by the likes of Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter, Florencia began to write songs as a teenager, switching from English to Spanish when she realised that she was better able to express her feelings in her native tongue. Her talent did not remain undiscovered for long. A short Instagram clip caught the attention of Swiss Latin music hero Loco Escrito who swiftly integrated the young talent in his band as a backing singer. Most things Loco touches turn to gold – Florencia Yunis’s prospects are looking very bright indeed.
