LyOsun Has Found a „Room With a View“

Newly released on Soulbeats Records is a new EP from Genevan “electro-mélodique project” LyOsun. Containing five pieces that bring together house beats with musical elements collected during LyOsun’s travels across the world, including an eerie vocal by Kenyan singer Sofiya Nzau and his own jazzy sax interventions.

LyOsun is the alter ego of multi-instrumentalist Raphael Litzistorf who is as much at home with electronic gadgetry as he is with guitar, piano and saxophone. A casual internet search first finds him ten years ago as a student at London’s Institute of Contemporary Music and a member of a jazz-infused math rock outfit named Remote View. Back in Geneva and unhappy, he embarked on lengthy journeys to South Africa as well as South America and Canada which inspired the idiosyncratic mix of styles presented on his first album in the guise of LyOsun, “The Missing Part”, released in 2018. Various singles and side-projects later, “A Room With a View” continues in a similarly eclectic and captivating fashion, not shying away from the odd hint of progressive rock. It’s all quite unusual and weirdly compelling.
