Walter Frosch Scores Another Super Goal
Dedicated to “Star 10110”, Walter Frosch’s new album is out now via Irascible (Switzerland), Mangel Records (Berlin) and Glowing Dagger Records (Oakland, California).
Emerging from the musical hotbed that is the Northern Swiss town of Schaffhausen at the turn of the decade, the duo of Mike Saxer and Rune Dahl Hansen are also members of a much punkier outfit, YC/CY. They formed Walter Frosch – named “without much thought” after a famously foolhardy, rough and grumpy German footballer – to express their love of British bands like Joy Division, the Cure and “any of their contemporaries who sounded similar”. “Star 10110” is their third full album. “We allowed ourselves to be a bit more experimental this time round”, says Hansen. “To become a touch more current, harder and darker. And to be a touch more open to different influences than before.”
