Dennis Kiss Finds Inspiration in Norddeich Mole

6 October 2023 saw the release of Dennis Kiss’s solo debut album. “Norddeich Mole” is out now on Young and Aspiring.

Nurtured by the lively music scene of Baden, a small town near Zurich, Dennis Kiss enjoyed some success with the indie band Dennis Kiss & The Sleepers and their singles “Cecilia” and “Gin Tonic”. “All four of us are in our early twenties and live by the idea of drifting. I think that is reflected in our music as well.” Kiss said at the time. After the underwhelming response to their one album, Kiss continued drifting alone, ending up in Hamburg. Here, apart from finding a spiritual home in the attitudes and life style of Northern Germany, he also discovered the joys of writing songs in German.

“Norddeich Mole” is the railway terminal, directly by the Wadden Sea, at the end of a two-hour journey from Bremen. Kiss takes the “vibe” of this station as a starting point for a series of autobiographical songs documenting the motivation of his move North, and the things, good and bad, that have happened to him since.
