Reto Burrell Sings With the Devil

Via Indiecom/Echopark arrives Reto Burell’s latest album, «Devil on my Tongue». His eleventh, it was once again produced by the artist himself in his own Echopark studio in a disused school surrounded by the mountains of central Switzerland.

The German edition of Classic Rock compared him to Graham Parker and John Cougar Mellencamp. Elsewhere, he has been likened to Tom Petty. Once, an MC introduced him to the crowd as “the Neil Young we can afford”. In a career spanning well over twenty years and a thousand gigs, he has supported the likes of Counting Crows, Green Day and Bryan Adams. Born a punk and metal fan, Burrell was brought to «Americana» because that was just the way his songs came out. However, having spent some of his formative years in the US, and returned to live in California for a while during the early stages of his musical career, “America” is considerably more than a mirage to him. “Happiness is when you realise you can do what you were born to do”, he says. “While others only dream of it, I was allowed to implement it. The only direction was to live music and not just play songs. So, the credo is clearly the way and not the goal.”
