Cori Nora Explores Flowers and Fences

Out now via Irascible Records is «Flowers and Fences», the debut album from singer/synth and bass player Cori Nora. The style of her calm and subtle music is as difficult to describe as you’d expect from the multi-faceted interests of the players – all vocalists in their own right – who make up her band.

“Flowers and Fences” was recorded and produced in close collaboration with her brother, the saxophonist and composer Christoph Huber who has worked with a host of jazz-tinged outfits in Switzerland and New York. The siblings grew up in a family of musicians in a small village. They are joined here by a drummer, Nick Furrer, who, under the guise of Haubi Songs (“half songs”), is part of the Red Brick Records collective and has released several albums of his own. Live, their band is complemented by London-based guitarist and composer Tara Cunningham who, apart from performing with Caius Williams as a noise/experimental duo, has worked with Red Snapper, folkies Wanderland, jazz group Tenderhost amongst many others.
