Naomi Lareine Is the Girl Next Door
Out now via Sony Music is the “Girl Next Door” EP, a sparkling showcase for the intriguing talents of up-and-coming R&B artist Naomi Lareine from Zurich. Lareine combines a silky vocal delivery and peerless phrasing with a keen ear for unusual rhythmic patterns and melodies.
The daughter of a Swiss father – a professional ice hockey player – and a Senegalese/Mauretanian mother, Naomi’s musical sensibility was honed on an unusual palette of sounds from a very early age. Discovered by Albanian rapper Noizy, she was soon also appearing live and recording with the rapper Stress, one of the biggest stars of the Swiss music scene. In 2019, she won the “SRF3 Best Newcomer” award. A year later she was nominated for the “Best Newcomer” award at the Swiss Music Awards. In the wake of coming out as queer in 2019, Lareine’s lyrics are dealing explicitly and exclusively with the joys and complications of life as a gay woman.
