KT Gorique Explores a “New Babylon”
18 November 2022 sees the release via Creepy Music of “New Babylon”, the new EP from KT Gorique. With a fiery, witty and, above all, musically innovative title track leading the way, the EP amply demonstrates the rapper’s ability to draw new shapes and nuances from a style she calls “Future Roots”.
Born in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, and moving to the French part of Switzerland as a child, KT Gorique shocked the hip-hop world with a spectacular demonstration of her skills at the “End of the Weak” world rap finals in New York in 2012. Since then, KT Gorique has become an international star, touring the world and collecting numerous awards not just for her music but also for her acting. An extended visit to her native country brought a new range of influences to her music which she describes as a fusion of everything she had picked up in her life so far, “good or bad”, a seamless blend of reggae, hip-hop, kalimba, balafon and other traditional African instruments.
