Pablo Nouvelle Teams up with Kinnship for “Stones & Geysers”

Pablo Nouvelle is a Swiss electronica producer whose early influences included Bonobo, the XX, Radiohead and Frank Ocean and who crafts his subtle soundscapes with a filmmaker’s feeling for mood. Kinnship is a young ambient pop/folktronica singer from Leeds in the UK who previously performed under the name Favela. “Stones & Geysers” is the title of their first album as a duo. It is released by Limmat Records on 5 November 2021.

Nouvelle and Kinnship first met five years ago when the former was in the process of moving from his early sample-based take on electronic soul towards a more organic blend of wires and voices. The warmth of Kinnship’s timbre and the honesty in his delivery perfectly suited his vision of where he wanted to take his music. With their first co-writing session in 2018 yielding the lovely “Kilo”, it was inevitable that their casual partnership would become something more serious and permanent. Or, as their press biography describes it: “The building blocks of a fruitful creative partnership were in place from the beginning; enjoyment, effortlessness, playfulness, freedom and an unspoken understanding. Both Pablo and Kinnship slipped into distinct roles – Kinnship jamming freely and loading up Pablo with ideas, while Pablo was the “collage maker”, talking all of the audio and creating a beautiful tapestry with them.”
