Swiss artists at the Eurosonic Noorderslag in Groningen

2013 begins in style with the Eurosonic Noorderslag Festival in Groningen, Holland. This first and by now traditional major musical get-together of the year begins on Wednesday, 9 January, and ends four days later, on Saturday 12 January. Swiss Music Export is proud to be able to present four of the best of Switzerland at Eurosonic Noorderslag, 77 Bombay Street, Hathors, Pegasus, The Pussywarmers & Réka.

Swiss Music Export is also proud to announce that Death by Chocolate are nominated with their interactive Video of the Single "Tell me what you see" for the "Best Interactive Award". To increase the chance of the prize you can vote for it up to Friday, 11 January: http://www.interactive-awards.nl/index.cfm?pid=15

Pegasus:
Inspired originally by Sixties bands like The Beatles, The Hollies and The Who, the quartet from Biel greatly extended their stylistic reach with their third album, Human Technology. Released in autumn 2011, Human Technology (complete with an upgrade version, 2.0, released in July 2012) stayed in the Swiss album charts for 61 weeks, spending three weeks at number two. They also hit the very top of the Swiss charts with their hit single Skyline. Young band, classic sound.

77 Bombay Street:
The four Buchli brothers from Scharans in the mountainous canton Grisons in the East of Switzerland share a predilection for close harmony singing and Sgt. Pepper coats. Named after their address in Adelaide, Australia, where they lived for a while as teenagers, 77 Bombay Street serve up a frothy folk-rock brew not a million miles away from Mumford & Sons. Their success is based on a seemingly endless supply of irresistibly catchy choruses. The debut album Up In The Sky remains in the Swiss top 100, 96 weeks after its first appearance. The follow-up, Oko Town, reached number 1 in October 2012 and is still in the top 20.

Hathors:

Their own description of their music is short and sharp: "Exploding comets!" they write. In more prosaic terms, Marc Bouffé (guitar, vocals), Marcel Munz (drums) and Therry Palmer (bass) are part of the European-wide resurgence of hardcore punk rock with touches of Hüsker Dü and Pearl Jam.

The Pussywarmers and Réka:
Le Quintette du The Hot Club de France, Kid Creole & the Coconuts, a prohibition time New Orleans bar combo and, last but not least, the late great Bonzo Dog Band, all come together in this irrepressible multi-instrumentalist quintet from the Ticino. Their records are released by Voodoo Rhythm Records – itself a guarantee for raucous, mischievous, soulful rock’n’roll fun. Live, the Pussywarmers will be featuring the very wonderful vocalist Réka Csiszér.
