Aïsha Devi goes out without her body!

5 July sees the release of a new 5track Mini-LP from Aïsha Devi. Entitled “S.L.F.”, it is available digitally as well as on orange vinyl via Houndstooth, the label started by the legendary, now sadly defunct London club, Fabric. “I’m Not Always Where My Body Is” is the intriguing title of the Mini-LP’s lead track.

Geneva-born Aïsha Devi is an electronica experimentalist and classically trained soprano with family roots in Nepal. Starting off with conventional, though classy, techno sounds under the name Kate Wax, she has vastly extended her musical reach in recent times to arrive at a mesmerising and unique blend of psychedelic electronica with all sorts of Eastern influences thrown in.

With prominent features in such influential publications as UK Wire, Pitchfork and the Quietus, Aïsha has been going from strength to strength of late. Supporting the great Aphex Twin at his recent New York show, she used her appearance at the Primavera Sound Festival to premiere a new stage show featuring the Berlin-based visual artist MFO. In July, she will also appear at the Manchester International Festival.
