Lord Kesseli & the Drums reaching for immortality

Just as well Lord Kesseli hasn’t thought of starting a religious cult yet. With the hypnotic, dark and yet – paradoxically – deeply psychedelic sounds emanating from his alchemically addled brain, a following of Pied Piper of Hamelin proportions would be an absolute certainty.

23 November sees the release of Lord Kesseli & the Drums’ second album, “Melodies of Immortality”. “All instruments are tuned in A = 432 Hz, an alternative tuning that is mathematically consistent with the universe. As a pure tone of math fundamental to nature, it therefore generates healthy effects among the listeners.” Well, that’s what it says here, and who are we to doubt the master?

Lord Kesseli is Dominik Kesseli, a creatively tonsured visual artist from the Eastern Swiss town of St. Gallen who likes to wear strange white garb, plays guitar and other things, and sings like a choir boy fallen into the wrong company. The wrong company is Drums aka Michael Gallusser, a dreadlocked drummer who also plays a mean harmonium. Together, they sound as if they had been sprung from a wild and wonderful 1960s commune in the Californian hills, dedicated to the exploration of dimensions not yet known to ordinary mankind. “Melodies of Immortality” is a fine next step in their timeless quest.

Melodies of Immortality” is released via Irascible in Switzerland and Paris-based Bookmaker Records.
