Veronica Fusaro @ European Song Contest 2026 in Vienna

Veronica Fusaro has come out top on top in the selection process for a Swiss representative at the finals of the European Song Contest 2026 in Vienna. Quite rightly, the 28-year-old singer/songwriter from Thun declared herself over the moon about the news, describing her feelings as «ultra-mega-giga-crazy». The song with which she will take part in the contest will be introduced to the public on March 11. For the contest in Vienna, Veronica has been allocated a slot in the second semi-final on 14 May. If all goes well – and we certainly believe it will! – she will be asked back for the grand final on 16 May.

The name Veronica Fusaro will be familiar to regular readers of the Swiss Music Export newsletter. Having quietly worked away at her songs in the basement of her parents’ house in the small Bernese town of Thun, she hit the headlines for the first time in 2016 when she was the winner of the “demo of the year” award at m4music in Zurich. Shortly after, she was declared “SRF3 Best Talent” by the Swiss version of the BBC, SRF. Since then, Veronica has honed her performance skills in well over 500 gigs and festival appearances. Last November saw the release of “Looking for Connection”, a second album sparkling with zest and memorable tunes. “The title captures what the whole album is about”, said the singer, describing her approach to songwriting. “While writing it, I kept thinking about how we live in a time of constant digital connection, yet many of us feel more isolated than ever. The songs explore that tension between screen and real life, loneliness and love, noise and stillness.”
