Mattiu growing an Aura
Entitled “Aura”, Mattiu’s new album is out now via Radicalis Music. The singer/songwriter from the Grisons mountains is blessed with a pure boy choir voice that cuts right through the small-talk to hit the heart. He also has a supremely confident knack to come up with melodies whose warmth lingers on long after the needle reaches the run-out groove.
Mattiu was born and raised in a small village surrounded by some of the most impressive mountains Switzerland has to offer – for visual proof check his homepage. Growing up in a tightly knit family where singing, listening and trusting was an intrinsic part of everyday life, to Mattiu, music is an expression of communal belonging with all its histories, tragedies, and hopes. Nature, too, is a major source of inspiration for the singer/songwriter – how could it not be, seeing where he lives! Always focusing on his voice, Mattiu’s songs are mostly accompanied by elegantly arranged piano and guitar, with the odd bit of percussion and electronic trickery thrown in. Sung exclusively in Romansh, a native tongue that is a musical experience in itself, it really does not matter if we don’t understand any of the words.
