Kadebostany in praise of the Outsider
Genevan producer/DJ Guillaume de Kadebostany returns with his fifth album under the guise of Kadebostany, traveller of the world and musical alchemist. Entitled “The Outsider”, it is available now.
Kadebostany have journeyed quite some distance since their gestation two decades ago. Originally setting off as a mock musical army complete with semi-ironic uniforms and an electronic fusion-sound that drew inspiration from all over an imaginary Balkan, “The Outsider” presents Guillaume de Kadebostany in a pleasing and fresh light as a songwriter. Blending his accustomed electronic beats and shiny production values with modular synthesizers and organic violins, horns and guitars, he has created a satisfyingly rich and gimmick-free blend of various folk and pop traditions that never feels contrived. Add to that a set of strong melodies and a handful of singers including Selin Cingir, Alex Sid and Vassilina, all with a strong style of their own, and the result is a fine album that will work on a dancefloor and a live stage just as well as on a sofa in front of a log fire in midwinter.
