Anna Rey Reporting on Her State of Mind
Out via Red Brick Records is Anna Rey’s new EP, “State of Mind”. Multi-instrumentalist and singer Rey – aka Anna Girsberger – has many strings to her bow. Performing solo as well as with the band she recorded this record with, she is also very much at home in a jazz environment, leading her own string ensemble and the Anna Rey Quintet (“Jazz for Peace, Feminism, and Change”). “State of Mind”, on the other hand, reflects a more singer/songwriterly side to her muse. “Anna Rey isn’t a project. She’s an uprising”, says her press release. “Against expectations, roles, and the power to define. She doesn’t ask, “Who am I`” but rather: “Who tells me who I am?”.
