Junes Pondering the Joys of Love and Loss

Entitled “Of Love and Loss”, the latest EP – well, a mini-LP, really – from singer/songwriter Junes is available now, thanks to Young & Aspiring. Musically socialised by the likes of Bon Iver, James Blake, Ryan Beatty and Novo Amor, pianist Junes savours the experience of love and loss mostly in ballad tempo. “All the time lost/I could have loved”, he sings, and “I’ll never get back the time I have lost” – feelings we can surely all empathise with. Recorded in Winterthur with producer/guitarist Giuliano Sulzberger, “Of Loss and Loss” is an elegant showcase for a voice that oozes emotional honesty and meditative calm.
Junes grew up in an environment soundtracked by classical piano and choir music. Having attended a specialist music high school, he studied jazz vocals before exploring his talents as a singer/songwriter in London. Back in Switzerland, his first EP was released in 2024, earning him plenty of excellent reviews and live gigs. One of his aims in recording “On Love and Loss”, he explains, was “to use tiny details in a minimalist production to create the biggest emotions possible.”
