Pronto Keeps It Close

The long-awaited follow-up to star rapper Pronto’s breakthrough album “Luno V” (2022) has landed, at last. Entitled “Close Circle”, the LP is released under Pronto’s own banner and licenced to 419Gmbh/Hemp Higher Prod.
Hailing from the small and idyllic town of Solothurn, Pronto grew up in an intensely musical environment, with his Ghanaian father a drummer and his mother, a social anthropologist, a passionate dancer. Spending a lot of time in Ghana during his teenage years, Pronto aka Pronto Dinero aka Senyo Mensah is able to draw on a wide range of experiences for his lyrics. Musically, his influences range from trap to Afro-Beat and even a hint of trip-hop. Thanks to a break-through single, “Clean” (2017), two highly regarded albums and several popular singles, his music has been streamed well over 200 million times by now.
“This is me, raw and unfiltered”, writes Pronto about his new album: “Close Circle is my world, my people, my energy – no outsiders”. Accompanied by sparse beats and a few subtle instrumental touches, Pronto’s rap style – in English as well as his native tongue, Swiss German – is unhurried, elliptical and hypnotically repetitive. A gripping return to form, with the track “Hope” a particular highlight.
