Swiss Music Export @ The Great Escape Festival 2025

The Great Escape Festival is one of those rare instances in modern music business life where ambience, presentation, content and beach all work together beautifully. And sometimes, even the weather plays ball! Add to that a medium-sized town, Brighton, which is able to absorb any number of sozzled tourists without going under, and you have the perfect excuse for a trip to the English South Coast. It barely needs mentioning that Swiss Music Export will once again be presenting our popular Swiss Business Mixer at TGE, complete with three – perhaps four! – showcase performances.

Swiss Business Mixer
FRI 16 May 2025 | 12:00 – 16:00 | Komedia Studio

Once again booked into the great space that is KOMEDIA Studio for an afternoon of cutting-edge Swiss music, Hürlimann beer, Lindor chocolate and locally sourced sandwiches, we are very much looking forward to a great day in great company. Anyone arriving at the door shackled to a TGE wristband will be more than welcome to partake in our festivities. And anyone who has joined us in the last few years will be very aware that the venue tends to be packed tight very quickly, forcing security to temporarily lock the doors. In other words: arrive early and stay late!

This year, the Swiss Business Mixer features performances from Joya Marleen, Benjamin Amaru and Sirens Of Lesbos (the latter were scheduled to play in 2024 but withdrew in support of that year’s large scale artist boycott of the festival). All three acts are also featured in TGE’s regular programme.

LIVE ACTS

13:15 JOYA MARLEEN
With her eagerly anticipated debut album now out, and freshly returned from an extended song-writing expedition to California and Nashville, twenty-two-year-old Joya Marleen is a bundle of pop energy who seems to be able to deliver a killer chorus at the drop of a hat. “I always try to incorporate something into my songs that you haven’t heard before”, she says. “A balance of soulful, danceable and edgy.”

14:15 BENJAMIN AMARU
Indie singer-songwriter Amaru had amassed more than 30 million streams in 2023 alone before signing to Warner Music Germany for the release of his first album proper. Blessed with a warm and expressive voice, he combines dreamy, electronica- and guitar-based backing tracks with a knack for super-catchy melodies served up in a satisfyingly varied palette of styles.

15:15 SIRENS OF LESBOS
The Bernese collective fronted by the Serag sisters, Jasmina and Nabyla, have combined their impossibly wide-ranging palette of influences to create a joyful melange of R&B, Fleetwood Mac, Dub and Afro-Beat. Check out their fabulous latest single, “Let It Hurt”.

All artists appearing at the showcase will also be part of the official Great Escape schedule. Details about these artists’ other TGE performances are still to be confirmed. However, it is likely that Joya Marleen will be playing on Saturday, 17 May, whilst Sirens of Lesbos and Benjamin Amaru will be scheduled for Thursday, 15 May.
