Carol Schuler and Del Fume Finding Closure Through Chaos

Following on from two singles, “Agent Meltdown” and “Anarqueen”, the freshly re-minted duo of singer/actress Carol Schuler and Zurich-based producer Del Fume aka Tobias Tissi is gathering speed with the release of their first EP, “Chaos and Closure”.

Schuler, an actress who regularly fronts the hugely popular and surreally long-running German television crime series “Tatort”, and Tissi, a busy composer and producer of film soundtracks, have known each other since childhood. They lost touch, however, when both of them – but at different times – moved to Berlin and, in Tissi’s case, back to Zurich. Reconnecting in a chance meeting in front of the Zurich Kunsthaus, memories of childhood music-making resurfaced, and with these, the urge to try again. The resulting 4-track EP blends electronica with guitars and other organic sounds and feels much closer to classic rock than Kraftwerk. Schuler, who professes a deep attraction to the dark aesthetic of Tim Burton, proves to be a fantastic vocalist, doing just as much justice to Tissi’s rockier tracks as the slow and atmospheric “Open Book”.
