Seraina Telli Rocking in Black and White

Seraina Telli’s last album was called “Addicted to Color”. It makes total sense, therefore, to call the follow-up – available now via Cologne-based Metalville Records – “Black’n’White Sessions”! Actually, the title is more than a little misleading. The “Black’n’White Sessions” are in no way less colourful in terms of musical fireworks than the high-octane dose of rock’n’roll that was “Addicted to Love” (which, by the way, made it all the way to the top of the Swiss album charts). In fact, the album, a double, is based on an intriguing concept. First off, apart from her own version of the evergreen “My Way” and the title track, it contains no new songs. Instead, it consists of a selection of tracks from her previous two albums, all rendered in pretty much electricity-free versions with acoustic guitars, organic percussion, organ, piano and the odd string arrangement. This is a daring move, as Telli is mostly known for her lung-busting, rip-roaring metal delivery. To make things even more adventurous, part two of the package is exactly the same songs yet again but this time delivered with the help of guest vocalists including rock legend Lee Aaron, Anna Murphy (ex-Eluveitie, Cellar Darling), Deer Park Avenue, Chris Boltendahl (Grave Digger) and Clementine Delauney (Visions of Atlantis).
