La Nefera Learning to Live
“Aprendi a Vivir” (“learning to live”) is the award-winning Basel-based rapper La Nefera’s second album in two years. Available now, it documents her struggle to come to terms with various fundamental changes in her life, including her decision to devote her considerable energies exclusively to music.
Featuring a six-piece line-up for her gigs which at one stage involved a sousaphone player, La Nefera has always been a spectacular live experience. This new album includes more electronic elements than before. Freeing her from any considerations of live performance – or rather, conferring more responsibility on keyboards -, her blend of reggaeton, cumbia and baile funk has been opened up for other ingredients that would have formed the listening experiences of someone growing up in a central European location like Basel. Needless to say that La Nefera, thanks to a packed diary of gigs and recording commitments, has become an even more accomplished rapper, singer and songwriter.
