Yilian Cañizares Celebrating Habana-Bahia

Out now via Absilone is “Habana-Bahia”, a new album from Cuban-born Swiss-based singer and violinist Yilian Cañizares.

Born in Havana, Cañizares studied classical violin there before moving to Venezuela to pursue further studies. Three years later, she arrived in Switzerland to complete her musical education at the Fribourg Conservatoire where she also discovered an interest in jazz. Since then, she has released several albums as part of ensembles or under her own name. One of the many notable artists she has collaborated with is Chucho Valdés, the veteran fellow Cuban pianist. He says about her: „Yilian is one of the most amazing talents amongst a new generation of Cuban musicians. She is a genuine virtuoso, expressive and spontaneous who plays with a grace that makes her a favourite of all of us”.
