Walter Frosch Bathing in a “Sea of Broken Light”
Walter Frosch, the electro-pop duo from Schaffhausen, follow up their debut album from 2020 with a brand-new mini-album entitled “Sea of Broken Light”. It was released on 16 June 2023 by Irascible.
Steeped in the spirit of the 1980s, Mike Saxer and Rune Dahl Hansen are part Yazoo and part Cure, with a bass that is the dead ringer of Peter Hook adding a dollop of New Order to proceedings. Broken hearts and existential angst, meanwhile, set the tone for the lyrics. Remarkably, Saxer and Hansen have toured Europe and the American West Coast not just in their guise as Walter Frosch, but also their hardcore alter ego YC-CY. Oh, and the real Walter Frosch was a George Harrison lookalike who played professional football for SV Alsenborn, 1. FC Kaiserslautern and FC St. Pauli.
