District Five Hit „Pause“

Newly out via the Basel-based boutique label A Tree In A Field Records is “Pause”, a new album from the genre-busting District Five.

“Let’s say, we’re just vibing here, with no pressure at all”, says the band. After the rigour and the discipline required for the recording of their debut album, “Burnt Sugar”, released in March 2022, the quartet from Zurich’s Kreis 5 felt the need to ease up a little. The seven tracks that make up “Pause” all grew from rehearsal studio jams that weren’t initially meant to be going anywhere – in the best sense of the word, of course! – only to develop their own head of steam and turn into proper tracks, each with its own identity and purpose. Never knowingly tied to one particular genre, “Pause” draws from a variety of inspirational sources, including Krautrock, Ghost Poet, TV On the Radio and, dare we say it, Free Jazz. The results are as refreshing as they are unusual.
