17 February 2023 saw the release of the latest album from Turquoise Yachting Club, their third. Entitled “Galaxies Sunliners”, was produced by L’Eclair’s Benoît „Gérard“ Erard and is available via Irascible Records.

Part of the bubbling Lausanne scene, the six-piece claims to be steeped in Sixties nostalgia. However, this writer, at least, can’t think of any Sixties artist sounding remotely as untroubled by adverse circumstances like unpleasant weather, delayed trains or a rotten apple in the fruit bowl, as this bunch of Wes Montgomery, Californian summer and papaya dessert fans. Their hyper-laidback melange of easy-listening attitude, post-funky delivery and the patience to serve up a tune without the slightest trace of rock’n’roll urgency, seems closer in spirit to a dreamy version of Phoenix. Every copy of this album should come with a cocktail cherry and a paper umbrella – that’s how irresistible it is!
