Feldermelder Reaching for Euphoria
Feldermelder’s new album is entitled “Euphoric Attempts”. It is a double and was released on 14 October 2022 by -OUS Label, the experimental music label Feldermelder aka Manuel Oberholzer co-founded in Zurich with Mara Miccichè aka IOKOI.
“While focusing on the current conditions we find ourselves in and bracing ourselves for what seems like the collapse of humanity, I made this collection of music in an attempt to ignite the essential remnants of my inner euphoria, and perhaps yours too”, says the artist. Huge washes of sounds of indeterminate origin (well, we do know they sprang from some kind of computer) run into and over each other, to produce a kind of cosmic, calm and abstract ambience which, in time, reveals an intricate web of understated themes, tunes and rhythmic pulses.
Feldermelder is Manuel Oberholzer aka Holy Oscillators aka Gibraltar Vacuum, a sound designer, producer and installation artist from Zurich whose list of installations, exhibitions and collaborations is virtually endless. Oberholzer, together with Mirko Eremita, David Houncheringer and Valerio Spoletini, is also the co-founder of Encor Studio whose aim it is to work on the “mutual understanding of an ever-evolving world, transforming the human condition itself onto a path of merging with space, its physicality and technology in many new forms via digitization and the advancement of our understanding of it…”
