Pina Palau breaking the Illusion

After July already saw the release of her EP “Breathe”, Pina Palau now released her debut album “Illusion” on 16 September 2022 via Mouthwatering Records.

The singer/songwriter from Zurich “loves the incongruous, the contradictory, the petty, the awkward and the ugly found in all of us” and refers to her finely spun indie/folk songs as a “scuffed up mirror, because if you take the time to listen you will eventually see yourself in it.”

Co-produced by Mario Hänni, who is himself no stranger to the Swiss music scene, “Illusion” is a “collection of carefully crafted indie folk gems ranging from pensive, earthy ballads to explosive, twangy anthems”.

As sound engineer Giuliano Sulzberger joined the group, the recording sessions relocated to a cozy studio in an industrial part of Zurich. Obsessed over texture, the group took to unorthodox mixing techniques running signals through old school amps and recording with windows wide open in order to capture the atmosphere, ultimately resulting in a collection of eight songs that depict a “candid inventory of the soul”.
