Tout Bleu Enjoying Their “Otium”

“Otium” means “leisure time”. It is a strange choice of title for an album by one of the most restless and multi-tasking musicians in Geneva! Tout Bleu began as a solo project by Simone Aubert who, apart from many other things, is also the guitarist in Massicot and the singing drummer in Hyperculte.

On this, Aubert’s second outing under the banner of Tout Bleu, she is moving a little closer to an ensemble concept, with electronic musician Pol and Agathe Max on electric violin featuring alongside her on band photos. The trio is augmented by a cellist, Naomi Mabanda, and viola player Luciano Turella. Part Velvet Underground, part The Knife, and part soundtrack to a baffling but gripping experimental film, “Otium” is an intriguing album, full of dark suspense and mysterious murmurings.
