Kacimi Switches on the “Gyrophare”

The new album from Genevan pop activist Kacimi, “Gyrophare”, was released on 30 October 2020 via Echo Orange/Chante et tais-toi/Le Pop Club Records. It is an album title for our times: a gyrophare is the rotating or flashing light on an emergency vehicle. In contrast to the urgency of the title, however, Kacimi approaches his musical life at a far more laidback pace. With barely a hint of shiny digital technology on display, he takes his cue from the likes of Dominique A or Etienne Daho to serve up a strongly melodic selection of guitar-based ruminations about love and loss.

In a career that has spanned fifteen years, Kacimi has been a member of various well-known bands, including Le Roi Angus, The Rebels of Tijuana and Monkberry Moon Orchestra. He is also the founder of the boutique record label Le Pop Club Records.
