Cruising the Night with Pierre Omer

The slower the cooking, the hotter the music. The proof: “Time Flies”, the joyously dark debut album from Pierre Omer & the Nightcruisers, released on 8 May via Radiogram/Beast Records, distributed by Irascible.

Once a member of the utterly undead Dead Brothers, Pierre Omer, has done many different things in his time, most of them related somehow to Hank Williams, the Cramps, Giant Sand, Central European circus music and Duke Ellington. His latest project is no different. Pierre Omer & The Nightcruisers are a kind of Americana-Folk-Big-Band, their music a lovingly curated exhibition of the dark thoughts and bright hopes that tinge a lonely night on the tiles.

“Time Flies” has been slow-cooking for nearly ten years. Conceived by Omer with composer and violinist Philippe Koller, the songs were developed from simple guitar/vox sketches with the help of a dozen guests, including singer Lynn M (Aloan/Elvett), drummer Bernard Trontin (Young Gods), banjoist and guitarist Christian Aregger (Blind Butcher) and sampling specialist Alan Frey (Aloan/Elvett).
