Tompaul Uncover the Night

Tompaul are a producer/musician trio from the small but musically hyperactive town of Baden near Zurich. Formed around Tom Fischer on guitar and Robin Fischer on electronics, they also feature Florian Brändli’s trombone.

The resulting sound is captivating and idiosyncratic – and it has been admirably captured on their new EP, “Wallawer”, released on 20 March 2020 on Flimmerplatten, distributed via Irascible. Their music, it says in their press blurb, is meant to reflect that special phase in a clubbing night when peak euphoria tips into a more reflective early morning mood. Driven by a no longer quite so relentless rhythm, and carrying a fine vocal melody, it is that trombone that fulfils the daring promise.
