The Animen in A New Light
20 March brings us the eagerly awaited new album “Same Sun/Different Light” from Geneva-based guitar quartet The Animen. The title is a good indication of what we can look forward to. The Animen, a guitar band as anglophile as they come, have always been soaked in melody-driven sixties pop à la Hollies, Badfinger and the Zombies.
After nearly ten years, they decided a change was in order. They decamped to Paris for a few weeks, teamed up with producer Samy Osta (Feu!, Chatterton, La Femme) to approach their music from a new angle. Taking the best of both worlds, analogue and digital, their third album offers a kaleidoscopic view of sixties’ musical aesthetics through the filter of a 2020 vision.
“Same Sun/Different Light”, The Animen’s third album, is released on Two Gentlemen, and is distributed by Rough Trade and Irascible.
